It's no secret to Kenyans that our parliament has been captured. In 2027, we must reclaim our parliament, returning its power to the people to represent the true concerns and interests of every Kenyan. To restore the role of parliament as envisioned by our sacred constitution, to enacts laws and discuss issues that genuinely help the common Wananchi. This is a momentous task, and Kinangop needs a leader with the education and experience to champion our cause—someone whose voice will reverberate from the Lake Victoria, across Mount Kenya's peaks, through the savanna grasslands, and to the pristine beaches of the Indian Ocean!

Inspiration for leadership!

When Nehemiah heard that the walls of Jerusalem were broken, he didn’t just sit and mourn. He prayed, cried out to God, and then took a courageous step to rebuild the walls. (Nehemiah 1:3-10). Like Nehemiah, we have prayed, and we have fasted. Now, it is time to rebuild. It is time to rebuild the walls of education, the walls of integrity in leadership, the walls of true economic empowerment for our people, and the walls of trusted leadership.

That is why I, Hon. Dr. Lukas Gacheru (Phd), am running for office—to rebuild our walls!

Vision for Education

Hon. Dr. Lukas Gacheru (Phd) believes deeply in the potential of our young people. He wants every child in Kinangop to have the very best opportunities in life, just like their peers across the globe. The world is changing super-fast with new technologies and changing economies, and we need to keep up! That's why, as our MP, he will build 8 New Libraries (fully equipped with computers and free internet)– one for each ward in Kinangop: Njabini/Kiburu, Murungaru, North Kinangop, Githabai, Nyakio, Magumu, Engineer & Gathara, He has already sourced hundreds of physical and digital books for these libraries ready to hit the ground running on day one to ensure a bright future for Kinangop Children. As Nelson Mandela once said, ‘ "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world!’

Vision for Roads in Kinangop

The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) needs a significant increase in funding to adequately address the road network. We should aim to allocate a minimum of $2 billion per constituency per year, which would bring KeRRA's total annual budget to at least $600 billion. This increased funding is crucial for developing the road infrastructure in Kinangop and other agricultural areas. Funding alone isn't enough; we must also ensure that the money is used effectively. We need to implement reforms within KeRRA to boost its efficiency from the current 65% to 100%. This will ensure that every dollar allocated is spent wisely on road construction and maintenance.

By improving the roads in Kinangop and other food-producing regions, we can directly impact the cost of living. Better roads will make it easier and cheaper to transport food, increasing the supply and ultimately lowering prices for everyone. The Road Act emphasizes the importance of equity and addressing historical injustices in resource allocation, and focusing on these vital agricultural areas aligns perfectly with that principle.

Leadership Experience

Dr. Lukas Gacheru's leadership was forged at the University of Nairobi, where he honed his skills as a student leader. Like many other notable UoN alumni, including Rigathi Gachagua, Gathoni wa Muchomba, Babu Owino, and Irungu Kang'ata, he was a fierce advocate for students. A notable victory came in 2008 when he successfully lobbied the ministries of health and public services to secure paid internships for medical students. In a time when we need real leadership and problem-solving skills, Dr. Gacheru is the clear choice for Kinangop. He's prepared to tackle out-of-control corruption, increase school capitation, improve university funding, and secure more allocations for roads.
